Japanese Hornbeam Forest (carpinus japonica)
Native to Japan the Japanese Hornbeam has elliptical, heavily veined leaves with a pointed tip that looks like a delicate painting. It is similar to the Korean Hornbeam but with longer narrower leaves and less twiggy growth. Has nice flowers in spring and smooth pink-grey fluted bark. The fall color is faintly orange to yellow and stands out in the landscape in the fall. Brown leaves often hang on the tree into the winter. Deciduous. Keep outdoors. 11 tree forest group, each tree 10-14 years old. 21"x26"x19". Potted in a 21" brown oval mica container as shown. Suitable 25"x15" humidity tray is recommended. To purchase add 29.95. Also known as Green Emerald Ficus. Has oval to roundish dark green shiny leaves. Easily forms rosetts at the end of it's branches if kept trimmed. The Bald Cypress grows in many areas of Louisiana and Florida particularly in swampy areas. The Bald Cypress has been designated the official tree of the state of Louisiana. The bark is fibrous and has a reddish-brown color with small flat ridges and shallow furrows.
